Description

No matter where you work or what your job involves, there’s a good chance a computer will be a basic tool you’ll be expected to use. It is in your best interests to develop the skills you need to use a computer confidently - it will help you get a job and it will help you to advance in your career.

This course explores what computers are about and how you can use them to do your job more quickly and easily. The first section, Concepts of IT, will give you a good basic understanding of computers. You’ll find out what’s contained in a typical desktop computer, what’s meant by ‘hardware’ and ‘software’ and what people mean by a ‘computer network’.

The second section of the course, Using Your Computer, will teach you the basics of looking after your computer, managing and organising your files and protecting your work from security threats such as viruses.

(If you wish to use this course online without the CD-ROM, ADSL/Broadband connection is strongly recommended)
